The QR button Chrome took out of the address bar, back
Chrome used to show a QR code icon right in the address bar. It has since been removed: the option now sits inside the share options in Chrome's menu, and the code it makes has a dinosaur in the middle and no design choices.
NeoReader QR puts a Google Chrome QR code generator back where it is quick to reach. One click on the toolbar icon gives you a styled code of the current page, ready to download, copy or print. The extension is coming soon to the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons and Firefox Add-ons.
What this Google Chrome QR code generator does
- Instant page QR: one click, styled, downloadable.
- Scan the whole screen: finds every QR code and barcode on the page, including in images, canvases, videos and PDFs.
- Select an area: drag around a single code when a page has lots of them.
- Link safety check: warns about look-alike sites, hidden destinations, link shorteners, bare IP addresses, app downloads and other QR phishing tricks before you open anything.
- Right-click anything: create a QR code for a link, selected text or image, or scan the page, from the right-click menu.
- Design button: opens the full QR designer on neoreader.com with your content already filled in. It travels in the page address, never to our server.
- Private: no account, no tracking. Codes are made and scanned in your browser, and scan history is off unless you switch it on.
How to create a QR code in Chrome with NeoReader QR
Prefer Chrome's own option? Open the menu, look in the share options and choose Create QR code. Menu names change between versions, and the result is a plain PNG.
- Add NeoReader QR to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store (coming soon) and pin it to the toolbar.
- Open the page you want to share.
- Click the NeoReader QR icon. A code for the page appears straight away.
- Download or copy it, or right-click a link or selected text to make a code for that instead.
- Want a logo, frame or gradient? Press Design to open the full designer with the page already filled in.
Microsoft Edge and Firefox QR code generator
The same extension is built for Microsoft Edge and Firefox, with the same one-click code, the same scanner and the same safety checks. Built-in QR options in each browser vary by version; NeoReader QR works the same way in all three.
Screenshots too
NeoReader also makes a Full Page Screenshot extension. It captures the entire scrolling page, the visible part or a dragged area, handles fixed headers so they do not repeat, and lets you crop, annotate and blur private details before saving PNG, JPG or PDF. Nothing is stored and there is no account.
