Link to QR code in five steps
The link to QR code generator above works with any public web address: your homepage, a product page, a booking form, a Google Doc, a YouTube video or a social profile. The address goes straight into the code, so a phone camera opens it the moment someone scans.
- Open the page you want people to reach and copy the address from your browser's address bar, so nothing is mistyped.
- Paste it into the Link field above. Keep the https:// at the start so every phone treats it as a website.
- Add colours, a dot pattern, your logo or a "Scan me" frame if you want one. The live scan check tells you if a design stops reading reliably.
- Download PNG for screens, or SVG or PDF for print.
- Scan the result with your own phone before it goes on anything public.
Create a QR code for your website that lasts
Codes made here are static. The URL is stored in the code itself, with no redirect through our servers, so it keeps working for as long as your page does. Nobody can switch it off, show your visitors an advert first, or ask you to pay to keep it running.
The one thing a static code cannot do is change its destination after printing. If you expect the page to move, point the code at an address you control, such as yoursite.com/menu, and update that page instead. Editable dynamic codes are coming soon with NeoReader Pro.
Tips for a URL to QR code that scans first time
- Shorter addresses make simpler codes. Strip tracking parameters you do not need: fewer dots means faster scans from further away.
- Avoid link shorteners. They add a redirect you do not control, and link safety checkers, including our own scanner, flag them.
- Keep the code dark on a light background. Light-on-dark codes fail on many phones.
- Print it at least 2 × 2 cm for close-up scanning, and roughly a tenth of the scanning distance for posters.
- Add a frame with a short call to action, such as "Scan for the menu", so people know what they will get.
What links can you put in a QR code
Any web address that opens in a browser will work. Common choices are a review page, an online menu, a sign-up form, a portfolio, an app store listing or a YouTube video.
The code holds only the address, not the page, so the page must be public. For a PDF, image or video, upload the file somewhere you control, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, your own website or YouTube, set sharing to "anyone with the link", then paste that link into the generator.
