How to create a QR code in Canva
The Canva QR code generator is an app inside the editor, found in the Apps panel. It turns a link into a code and drops it into your design.
- Open your design in the Canva editor.
- Select Apps in the side panel and search for "QR code".
- Open the QR Code app and paste your link into the URL field.
- Generate the code. It is added to your page.
- Resize and position it, leaving a clear margin around it.
- Download your design as usual, then scan a printed proof with your phone.
What the Canva QR code generator is good for
It is quick, it lives where your design already is, and for a plain link on a flyer it is often all you need. The app is built around links, and its design options are limited compared with a dedicated generator.
If you want a code for a Wi-Fi network, a contact card or a WhatsApp chat, a logo in the middle, or a code you can also use outside Canva, make it in a dedicated generator and bring it in.
Whichever tool makes the code, the same design rules apply once it is on your page. Canva makes it easy to lay a code over a photo, drop its opacity or tint it to match a palette, and each of those can quietly stop it scanning. Keep the code dark on a light, plain patch of the design, do not crop into its edges, and print it at least 2 × 2 cm.
