What the bulk barcode generator does
Give it a list of numbers or codes and it draws a barcode for each one. Paste values one per line, or upload a CSV, TSV or XLSX file with up to 1,000 rows. The separator and the header row are detected for you, and you can change both.
Each row can have its own barcode type: Code 128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 39, ITF, ITF-14, Data Matrix, PDF417 or Aztec. You see a preview grid with every row, search it, and download one ZIP. The batch is made in your browser, and it is private by default: we don't keep your list.
How do I tell the barcodes apart?
When you generate hundreds of barcodes, the hard part is knowing which is which. This tool gives you four ways, and you can use them together.
- File names: each file is named from your filename column, else your label, else the row number with leading zeros. Repeats become -2, -3, so nothing is overwritten.
- Text under every barcode: the label and sub-label from your sheet, or the file name, the content or the row number, printed in the PNG and SVG. For 2D codes such as Data Matrix, the content can be printed as well.
- index.csv in every ZIP: one line per row with the file name, its path in the ZIP, content, label and status, so you can match files back to your list or use it in a mail merge.
- proof-sheet.pdf in every ZIP: a contact sheet of every barcode with its row number and label, to check a batch at a glance or keep on file.
- A number generator makes a numbered series (prefix, start, end, step, zero padding, suffix), so the number in the barcode, the file name and the printed label always match.
Spreadsheet format for bulk barcodes
Only content is required. Put the headers in the first row, in any order. Common alternatives are accepted: value, data, sku, ean or upc for content; name for filename; title or caption for label; qty for copies; format for type.
Use the Download Example Spreadsheet button in the tool, or the example CSV link under it, to start from a working file. Exporting from Excel or Google Sheets? Save as CSV, or upload the .xlsx file directly. Format the barcode column as Text in Excel so leading zeros stay.
- content: the number or text to encode (required).
- type: code128, ean13, ean8, upca, upce, code39, itf, itf14, datamatrix, pdf417 or aztec. Empty uses the type you picked on the page.
- filename: the file name without the extension.
- label and sublabel: two lines printed under the barcode.
- copies: how many labels to print for this row on a label sheet (1 to 100).
- fg_color and bg_color: optional hex colours for a single row, such as #1a3c8b.
Check digits for EAN, UPC and ITF-14
Each row is validated for its type. If an EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A or ITF-14 value is one digit short, the check digit is added and the row says so. If the value is full length, the check digit is verified, and a wrong one is flagged with the digit it should be. Bad rows are listed with the reason and skipped, and the rest of the batch carries on.
Need numbers to test a till, a scanner or a spreadsheet? "Fill with random test numbers" creates valid numbers in the GS1 in-store range starting with 2. They are for testing only. Products sold through retailers or marketplaces need numbers licensed from GS1, or whatever your marketplace requires. This tool draws barcodes for numbers you already have; it does not issue them.
Print barcodes on Avery label sheets

- Sheets: A4 and US Letter, with presets for Avery L7160, L7163, L7651, 5160, 5163 and 5167, or a custom grid with your own columns, rows, margins and gaps.
- Start at label N: skip the labels already used on a part-used sheet.
- Copies: the copies column prints extra labels for a row.
- Cut marks and label outlines for plain paper and alignment tests.
- Print at 100% or "Actual size", not "Fit to page", and try one sheet on plain paper first.
Do the barcodes scan?
Every barcode is read back with the same scanner engine used in NeoReader, and the preview shows how many scan OK. Any that fail are flagged and marked in index.csv and the proof sheet. Still test a printed sample with your own scanner before you print a whole job, because paper, ink and printers vary.
PNG or SVG: choosing the right files
- PNG by pixel width, or by print size in millimetres at 150, 300 or 600 dpi. The file records its print size.
- SVG: vector files that stay sharp at any size, best for Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity or Word.
- Both can go in the same ZIP, in png and svg folders.
