Terms of Service

The plain rules for using NeoReader: what we promise, what we ask of you, and what happens if something goes wrong.

Last updated 3 November 2026. These terms cover neoreader.com, including the member area, dynamic QR codes, the API and the MCP server. Our browser extensions are covered by their own store listings and privacy policies.

1. Who we are and accepting these terms

In short: using NeoReader means you accept these terms.

NeoReader is run by NeoReader (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@neoreader.com or through the contact form. By using the site, creating an account or making a dynamic code, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. If you use NeoReader for an organization, you confirm that you can accept these terms for it.

2. The service

In short: free tools that mostly run in your browser, plus an optional account for dynamic QR codes.

NeoReader offers tools to create and scan QR codes and barcodes, work with PDFs and screenshots, and, with an account, dynamic QR codes, an API and an MCP server. Most tools run on your device. PDF to Word and Word to PDF upload your file to our server for conversion; see the Privacy Policy. We may set limits, such as file size, pages per file, how many codes an account can have and how fast requests can be made, to keep the service fair and stable.

3. Accounts

In short: you need an account only for dynamic codes. Keep it secure and give us true details.

4. Dynamic QR codes

In short: you choose where your code goes and are responsible for it. If your account is deleted, your codes stop working.

5. Acceptable use

In short: do not use NeoReader to harm, deceive or break the law.

You must not use NeoReader, and in particular must not create a dynamic code or point one at a destination, that:

You also must not:

6. Enforcement: what we may do, and your right to appeal

In short: we act on stated grounds, tell you where we can, and you can appeal.

We may remove or switch off a dynamic code (we call this “blocking”), pause or disable an account, revoke API tokens, or limit access to the service, if:

A person on our team decides. We record the ground and a short reason. Where we can, we tell the owner by email and give the reason, either before or straight after the action. We may not be able to tell you first or at all if the code is an active scam or malware risk, if the law stops us, or if we have no working contact for you. A blocked code shows scanners a plain page saying it has been switched off.

Appeals. If you think we got it wrong, write to us through the contact page with the code or account concerned and what you would like us to look at. We review the decision again and tell you the outcome. If we were wrong, we restore the code or account. We may keep a record of the decision.

7. API and MCP server

In short: tokens are personal, limited, and carry your responsibility.

With an account you can create API tokens for the API and the MCP server, for example to let a script or an AI tool create and manage your codes. Anything done with your token counts as done by you, so keep it secret, and revoke it if it leaks. Use is subject to rate limits and to section 5. AI tools you connect have their own terms and privacy practices, and what you let them do is your decision. We may change or withdraw API features, with reasonable notice where we can.

8. Your content and our license to use it

In short: your content stays yours. We use it only to run the service for you.

“Your content” means the things you give us: destination links, titles, designs, files you upload for conversion, and messages to us. You keep all rights in it. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, display and send it, and to make technical copies, only so far as needed to run the service for you, keep it secure, and meet the law. The license ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we must keep by law or routine backups that expire. We do not use your content to advertise, to train AI models, or for anything unrelated to running the service. You promise that you have the right to give us your content and that it follows these terms.

We own NeoReader, its software, design and name. You may use the service as these terms allow, but you do not get any ownership in it. The QR codes and barcodes you generate are yours to use freely, including commercially.

9. PDF and document files

In short: conversion is automatic, and we delete your file within about an hour.

When you convert a file, you confirm you have the right to do so. The conversion is automatic, and results may not be a perfect copy: check them before you rely on them, especially for layout, fonts, tables and scanned pages. We delete uploaded and converted files after you download them or delete them, or after 60 minutes. Because they are deleted, we cannot recover them. Keep your original.

10. A free service

In short: the service is free and may change, but we will warn you before we switch off dynamic codes you rely on.

NeoReader is free to use today. We may change, add or remove features, limits or tools, and we may introduce paid plans. If a change would affect something you rely on, we will tell you before it applies. If we decide to end a free feature that you rely on, we will give you reasonable notice. If we plan to switch off dynamic codes, we will tell account holders by email and on the site well ahead, and give you a way to download your data, so you can move your codes. We cannot promise the service will always be available or free of faults.

11. Privacy

In short: our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data.

How we collect and use personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy. It is not part of the contract between you and us, but we will follow it. If you collect personal data through a dynamic code, you must follow data protection law yourself.

In short: tell us if a code or file infringes your rights, and we will look into it.

If you believe a dynamic code or content on NeoReader infringes your copyright, trademark or other rights, or is illegal, contact us with the code's address (the neoreader.com/q/… link), what is wrong, why you believe it, and your contact details. We review reports, may block the code under section 6, and may pass your report to the owner of the code. The owner can respond, and we will consider what they say. Do not send a report you know to be false.

13. Disclaimers and liability

In short: we do our best, but the service is provided “as is”. We never exclude what the law does not allow us to exclude.

We provide NeoReader with reasonable care and skill, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for any particular purpose, or that a scanned code or converted file will be perfect. Check codes before you print them in volume.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, you also keep any legal rights you cannot give up.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for loss that was not a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill or data, or indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability to you for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of £100 and what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not responsible for the content of destinations that dynamic codes point to, or for what other people do with codes.

14. If your use causes a claim

In short: if you break these terms and that leads to a claim against us, you cover our reasonable costs.

If you use NeoReader for business purposes, you agree to cover our reasonable losses, costs and legal fees that result from a third-party claim caused by your content, your destinations, or your breach of these terms or the law. This does not apply to people using the service only as consumers, whose statutory rights are untouched. We will tell you promptly about a claim and let you help deal with it where that is sensible.

15. Changes and ending the relationship

In short: you can stop at any time. We may update these terms and will say so.

You can stop using NeoReader or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access for the reasons in section 6, or if we end the service (with notice as in section 10). We may update these terms, for example when the service or the law changes. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes that affect account holders, we will give reasonable notice before they apply, usually by email. If you keep using NeoReader after a change takes effect, you accept it. If you do not agree, you can delete your account. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as section 13, continue after your access ends.

16. Governing law and contact

In short: English law applies, and you keep your local consumer rights.

These terms, and any dispute about them or the service, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear it. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts. We will try to settle any complaint informally first.
