Rotate a PDF and keep the change
Most PDF readers let you turn the view, but the file itself stays the same, so it opens sideways again next time. This tool rotates the pages in the PDF and saves a new file, so it opens the right way for everyone you send it to.

How to rotate a PDF and save it
- Add your PDF. Every page appears as a thumbnail.
- Press rotate on each page that needs turning, or rotate all pages together.
- Press again to turn another 90 degrees, until the page is upright.
- Download the rotated PDF.
Private, free and without limits
Rotating is a small job, so it is annoying when it counts against a quota. Smallpdf's free plan allows 2 tasks a day, Sejda allows 3 an hour, and Adobe Acrobat online allows one transaction per tool without an account. These sites, along with iLovePDF and PDF24, also upload your file to their servers to do it.
Here the rotation happens in your browser. The PDF is never sent to our servers, there is no account, no watermark and no daily cap. Rotating does not re-render pages, so the text stays selectable and the quality does not change.
Rotating PDFs on different devices
On Windows and Mac, open this page in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari and add the file from your downloads or desktop. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
On an iPhone or iPad, open the page in Safari and pick the PDF from the Files app. On Android, pick it from your downloads or your cloud storage app. Thumbnails for long PDFs take a little longer to appear on a phone, so give a 200-page file a moment.
The rotated PDF downloads as a new file. Your original is not changed, so if you rotate the wrong page you can simply start again with the same file.
If a page still looks wrong after rotating, it may have been scanned at a slight angle. Rotation turns pages in 90 degree steps and does not straighten a skewed scan.
Common reasons pages end up sideways
- A scanner or phone scanning app guessed the orientation wrongly.
- A landscape table or chart was saved inside a portrait document.
- Pages were fed into the scanner upside down.
- Two PDFs were merged and one used a different orientation.
