Why people look for an ME-QR alternative
ME-QR is a popular QR code generator with a large choice of code types, frames and integrations. Its free plan makes dynamic codes, and its own FAQ says visitors see an ad after the first 10 scans unless the code's owner pays for a plan. Its Lite plan removes ads from one code, and Premium removes them from all of them.
That catches out people who printed hundreds of flyers, menus or labels before finding out. If that has happened to you, the fix is to make a code that doesn't depend on an ad-supported redirect, then reprint.
NeoReader is independent and not affiliated with ME-QR. The details above come from ME-QR's pricing and FAQ pages as published in November 2026.
What you get with NeoReader
- Static QR codes with no account: your link is stored in the code, so there is no redirect to add ads to.
- Dynamic QR codes with a free account: edit the destination after printing, pause it, schedule it, cap scans or add a password.
- Scan stats by day, country, device and browser, with no cookies on your visitors.
- No ads, pop-ups or waiting pages on any scan, free or not.
- Logos, colours, frames, templates, and PNG, SVG and PDF downloads.
- A free API and an MCP server, so your own apps and AI assistants can create and update codes.
Replacing a code that shows ads
If the old code is already printed in large numbers, a sticker with the new code over the old one is often cheaper than a full reprint.
- Scan your old code with the NeoReader scanner to see the real destination it sends people to.
- Make a new static code for that link, or a dynamic one if you want to change it later.
- Download it as SVG or PDF for print, and test-scan the proof before you send it to the printer.
Static or dynamic: which should you choose?
Choose static when the link won't change, such as a website, Wi-Fi details or a contact card. It needs no account and keeps working with no server involved.
Choose dynamic when you might need to change the destination after printing, or want to know how many people scanned it. Our guide to static vs dynamic QR codes explains the difference in more detail.
