How to screenshot on an Acer laptop
On an Acer laptop running Windows, press Windows + Shift + S to capture part of the screen, or Windows + PrtSc to save the full screen to Pictures\Screenshots. PrtSc is usually on the top row towards the right. On an Acer Chromebook, press Ctrl + Show windows instead.

Acer screenshot shortcuts
Aspire, Swift, Spin, TravelMate, Nitro and Predator laptops run Windows, so the shortcuts are the standard Windows ones.
- Windows + Shift + S: capture an area, a window or the full screen. The image is copied to the clipboard, and Windows 11 also saves it to Pictures\Screenshots by default.
- Windows + PrtSc: saves the full screen to Pictures\Screenshots.
- PrtSc on its own: opens the snipping bar on current Windows 11 builds, or copies the full screen to the clipboard on Windows 10.
- Alt + PrtSc: copies only the active window.
Where PrtSc is on an Acer keyboard
On most Acer laptops, PrtSc is on the top row near the right-hand end, close to Delete or Insert. Some models give it a key of its own; others print it as a second function on a shared key, often in a different colour. Nitro and Predator gaming laptops with a number pad may place it in the top-right cluster. Layouts change between models, so check the legends on your own keyboard.
If PrtSc is a secondary function, press Fn + PrtSc, or Fn + Windows + PrtSc to save a file. On some Acer models you can make F1 to F12 the default in the BIOS setup; the option name and location vary.
How to take a screenshot on an Acer laptop
- Open what you want to capture.
- Press Windows + Shift + S.
- Choose Rectangle, Window, Full screen or Freeform, then drag or click.
- Click the notification to crop, mark up and save it in the Snipping Tool, or paste it with Ctrl + V.
- Find saved files in File Explorer under Pictures, then Screenshots.
Screenshot one window or one monitor on an Acer
To capture only the window you are working in, click it and press Alt + PrtSc (add Fn if your keyboard needs it), then paste with Ctrl + V. If your Acer laptop is connected to a second monitor, PrtSc and Windows + PrtSc capture both screens as one wide image. Use Windows + Shift + S and choose Rectangle or Full screen on the display you want to keep it to one.
Acer Chromebooks and 2-in-1s
Acer makes a lot of Chromebooks, such as the Chromebook 314 and Chromebook Spin models. They run ChromeOS and have no PrtSc key. Press Ctrl + Show windows for the full screen, or Ctrl + Shift + Show windows to pick an area or a window. Screenshots go to the Downloads folder. Acer's Windows convertibles (such as Spin models running Windows) have no keyboard in reach in tablet mode. Power + Volume Up works on many Windows 11 tablets; otherwise open the Snipping Tool and tap New.
