How to screenshot on an Asus laptop
On an Asus laptop, press Windows + Shift + S to snip any part of the screen, or Windows + PrtSc to save the full screen to Pictures\Screenshots. PrtSc is usually at the right-hand end of the top row; if it shares a key, add Fn.

Asus screenshot shortcuts
ZenBook, VivoBook, ExpertBook, TUF and ROG laptops run Windows, so they use the Windows screenshot tools.
- Windows + Shift + S: capture an area, a window or the full screen. It goes to the clipboard, and Windows 11 also saves it to Pictures\Screenshots by default.
- Windows + PrtSc: saves the full screen to Pictures\Screenshots.
- PrtSc alone: opens the snipping bar on current Windows 11 builds, or copies the screen to the clipboard on Windows 10.
- Alt + PrtSc: copies the active window to the clipboard.
Where PrtSc is on an Asus keyboard
On most ZenBook and VivoBook models, PrtSc is on the top row near the right-hand end, close to Delete. On some it has its own key; on others it shares a key with another function. ROG and TUF gaming laptops often keep it in the top-right corner too, and larger models with a number pad may have a dedicated key. The exact spot varies by model and year, so check your top row for PrtSc or Prt Sc.
Fn key and Fn lock on Asus laptops
Asus laptops usually default to hotkeys on the top row (volume, brightness, touchpad on or off), with F1 to F12 behind Fn. If PrtSc is a secondary function, press Fn + PrtSc.
On many Asus laptops, Fn + Esc toggles Fn lock, and Esc shows a small lock icon. The MyASUS app on many models also has a function key setting that chooses between hotkeys and F keys. If PrtSc works one day and not the next, Fn lock has probably changed.
How to take a screenshot on an Asus laptop
- Open the window or page you want and close anything private.
- Press Windows + Shift + S. A bar appears at the top of the dimmed screen.
- Pick Rectangle, Window, Full screen or Freeform, then drag or click.
- Click the notification to crop, draw on and save the screenshot in the Snipping Tool.
- Or press Ctrl + V to paste it straight into a chat, email or document.
Asus 2-in-1s, phones and Chromebooks
Flip and detachable models used as a tablet have no keyboard in reach. Power + Volume Up takes a screenshot on many Windows 11 tablets; if yours does not respond, open the Snipping Tool and tap New.
