NeoReader Screen Recorder: Privacy Policy
before enabling usage analytics (see the last section).

NeoReader Screen Recorder ("the extension") is published by NeoReader, operator of neoreader.com.
Private by default
- Recordings stay on your device. Your browser records the tab, window or screen you choose. Trimming and converting to MP4, WebM or GIF also happen on your device, using your browser's built-in encoders. NeoReader has no servers that receive your recordings, and the extension has no cloud library or share links.
- Local storage. So you can preview, trim and download a recording, the extension keeps your 10 most recent recordings in its own storage in your browser (IndexedDB). It deletes older ones automatically, and you can delete any recording yourself from the preview page. Removing the extension deletes them all.
- No account. There's no sign-in, and the extension doesn't ask for your name, email or any other personal information.
- Microphone and camera only when you ask. They're off by default. When you switch one on, your browser asks for your permission, and the extension uses it only while a recording is running.
- Active only on the tab you record. The extension only touches a tab when you start a recording there (from its toolbar button or keyboard shortcut). It shows a 3-2-1 countdown on that tab and records it. It doesn't read page content, and it isn't active on any site in the background.
Data we collect
None. The current version has no analytics or telemetry, and your recordings and page data aren't sent to NeoReader.
Permissions and why they're needed

Window and full-screen recording uses the browser's standard screen-sharing picker, which needs no extra permission.
On Firefox, which has no tabCapture or offscreen, the recorder runs in an extension tab that you keep open while you record.
Firefox therefore needs only storage and unlimitedStorage.
The microphone and camera aren't install-time permissions. Your browser asks for them the first time you switch them on, and you can take them back at any time in your browser's site settings for the extension.
Links to neoreader.com
The extension shows links to neoreader.com. Clicking one opens our website, which has its own
privacy policy. The links carry utm_ tags that name the extension
as the traffic source. They don't identify you.
Changes
If a future version collects any data, we'll update this policy first. The update will describe exactly what's collected and why, and where browsers require it, the extension will ask for your consent.
